Electronic Devices
ELECTRONIC DEVICES – POLICY #237
- With many students owning a variety of cell phones, iPods, Smartwatches, handheld video games, etc. we need to remind everyone that they are not permitted in school or on field trips. These are expensive items and we do not want them to be broken, misplaced, stolen or the cause of distractions.
- Cell phones and other electronic devices must remain in school bags (turned off) and may not be used during the school day. Devices that interfere with instructional time may be confiscated and returned at the end of the school day. Repeated misuse of electronic devices will result in requiring that a parent pick up the item(s) at the end of the school day (3:30 pm).
- If necessary, students may use a school phone to communicate with their family during school hours. Although we can look up a phone number, we do encourage families to help their child memorize important phone numbers to make this process as easy as possible for your child.
- The first line of Policy #237 states, “The Board prohibits possession of laser pointers by students on school property, on buses and other vehicles provided by the district, and at school-sponsored activities.”
- For more information, please refer to the full policy on our district website (http://www.umasd.org/domain/19).
